Topaz Labs is a family of desktop applications, not one all-purpose editor. Photo AI provides a guided repair workflow for still images, while Gigapixel concentrates on enlargement-heavy jobs such as large prints. Video AI handles demanding footage restoration and conversion tasks. The software works best beside Lightroom, Photoshop or a video editor; it does not replace cataloguing, compositing, colour grading or precise retouching. Core processing runs locally and benefits greatly from a recent GPU.

What to check before buying

1. Match the app to the workload. Buying the full range creates unnecessary overlap for many photographers.
2. Test difficult source files. Faces, foliage, text and compressed footage expose artificial detail quickly.
3. Allow for processing time. Large batches and high-resolution video can occupy a capable computer for hours.

Topaz products are paid separately, with licensing and upgrade terms tied to each application. Trials are useful because results depend heavily on the camera, source quality and selected AI model. The automatic settings offer a practical starting point, but restrained adjustments usually look more natural than maximum-strength processing.
